POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE WORKPLACE

This week I had a powerful reminder from one of my clients that resonated with me deeply. She was talking about not always feeling valued at work and at times sidelined. Despite this, she explained she strived to still be a role model in her workplace. She said, "be the change you want to see".

This resonated with me so much because as we strive for progress and empowerment for women in the workplace, it can be easy to take the long-term view and feel like things aren’t changing quickly enough. But when you remember that even small actions have a significant impact this motivates us to be at our best, to show up, knowing that we are paving the way for better conditions for women in the future.

While we may not be able to change systemic issues overnight, here are some meaningful steps we can all take:

- Challenge gender biases and stereotypes in the workplace.
- Offer assistance to your colleagues and show genuine support.
- Recognise and appreciate female voices and contributions in meetings.
- Avoid stereotypical comments or judgments based on appearance.
- If you are in a leadership position, mentor and uplift women.
- Create a supportive environment for women returning from leave.
- Respect and value the diverse talents and capabilities of women.
- Uphold professionalism and equality in all aspects of business interactions.

By embodying these principles and advocating for positive change, we can collectively foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment for all. Let's lead by example and be the catalyst for the transformation we wish to see.

Which of these actions are you already taking to make the workplace even more welcoming for women?
