Coaching Women in Music: Why Focus Isn’t Discrimination

Today, a man in music decided my work “discriminates against men” because I coach women in music. He even added, “Brilliant, that’s half your market gone there.” Well, let me set the record straight:

Coaching women isn’t about excluding men. It’s about addressing the systemic challenges women face in this industry—the glass ceilings, pay gaps, and being underestimated (like comments like this demonstrate perfectly).

I’m here to support women because their voices, ideas, and leadership make the music industry better for everyone. And let’s not forget—focusing on a specific audience isn’t discrimination; it’s called serving a need.

So to the men out there feeling excluded, don’t worry. There’s plenty of space in this industry for allies—just not for fragile egos.
