IS YOUR BOSS IMPACTING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH?

I just read a quote on social media; “your boss has more impact on your mental health than your therapist or your doctor. Having a good boss can literally change your life.”

This resonated with me as I’ve experienced many truly wonderful bosses who I’ve flourished under. But I’ve also suffered working under bosses who’ve negatively impacted my mental health.

These kinds of bosses come in all shapes and sizes, but generally they don’t make you feel valued, heard or appreciated. They may even undermine or micromanage you.

The truth is, that your boss doesn’t have to be a terrible person in order to be an ineffective boss and impact your mental health. In fact many women don’t speak up about a negative experience they’re having at work and instead they justify it by “my boss isn’t that bad” or “my boss isn’t trying to be mean”.

It’s not about what they are trying to do, it is about the impact they’re having on you. In your career you deserve to feel like a valued member of the team, who’s respected and heard.

If you’re experiencing a boss who’s negatively impacting your mental health, but you’re not sure what to do, there’s help available. With coaching I can support you to navigate this by providing a lifeboat and relief from these choppy waters.

It can be daunting to ask for help, but you can be assured that anything we discuss is completely confidential. And this may be the thing that helps you regain your centre, alleviate the anguish you’re feeling and appreciate your own value again.

If this is resonating with you please schedule a free chemistry session and we can explore what it would be like to work together.
