WHY COACHING IS SO POWERFUL FOR WOMEN

For over 20 years I was a business development exec in the music and entertainment industries. I excelled at it. There were times when I enjoyed it. There were times when I didn't.

I worked in male dominated teams, and it was a very competitive environment. I struggled to be my authentic self in that setting. I was fixated on targets and closing deals and I started to lose myself. I realised I was unhappy, and I knew I wanted to make a change, but I didn't know how to.

TAKING ACTION

This led me to hire a coach. My coach helped me identify what I really wanted for my future. I found this coaching space liberating and realised despite always posessing a strong sense of self, there were parts of me I’d stopped listening to, and was no longer in tune with.

Coaching offered me new perspectives, a space to explore new possibilities, and reignited my spirit. It helped me to put really strong boundaries in place and enabled me to re-frame conversations, so that I wasn’t always looking for what I could have done better. It helped me to tap back into what my gut was saying, and stop second-guessing myself.  I’ll always be grateful for coaching and how it helped me.

FINDING MY TRUE CALLING

When I moved from London to LA I was afforded the opportunity to follow my dream and focus on becoming a coach. The training ignited a flame within me. Coaching other women is now the achievement I’m most proud of in my career. When I see a woman transition from constantly being a people pleaser and being frustrated that she doesn’t get what she needs and is misunderstood. Then she moves into putting what she wants first and having the confidence to communicate this clearly.

WHY WOMEN BENEFIT SO MUCH FROM COACHING

I'm often asked why I focus on coaching women and their career aspirations. Simply put, I want equality for women. There are so many depressing stats out there about women in business, varying depending on the industry you work in.

Taking the music industry as an example, a staggering 81% of women say it’s harder for them to navigate the industry than it is for a man. They cite reasons such as being objectified, sexually harassed, the only woman in the room or being dismissed. There are countless resources confirming the gender pay gap, and I recently read that only 28% of women in music will try to negotiate for higher pay when they’re offered a job.

Stats aside, I've received and witnessed a lot of unacceptable behaviour towards women in business. I've always been a champion of women and it's important to me to help other women progress in their careers and live a more fulfilling life.

THE POWER OF COACHING

As a coach I help brilliant women in various stages of their careers. They may be going through a career change, seeking a promotion, returning to work after a career break or shifting in a key relationship. I help them build courage, confidence and motivation to enable them to tap into what they really want and put steps in place to make that happen.
