HOW COACHING HELPED ME MOVE ABROAD

Moving from London to LA has been an exhilarating rollercoaster ride filled with unexpected twists and turns.

Living in a new country can be daunting, but the kindness and warmth of strangers quickly makes you feel right at home. Making new friends and connections, immersing yourself in different cultures, and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone all become second nature.

I’m so grateful for my training as a coach during this time - here's three principles from coaching, that have absolutely helped me thrive when moving thousands of miles away.

1. Self-belief matters - if I’d spent a lot of time in self-negative talk, I’d never have gotten through all the paperwork to get a US visa, open a new bank account and start to build up a credit score from zero!

2. Your inner leader - if I’d not tapped into, trusted and listened to my wisest self during times of despair and feeling lost, then I would have thought I’m crazy for moving to LA.

3. Values - if I’d not fully aligned with my core values, I would have felt unfulfilled and likely gone home to London already.

Retraining as a coach has been a gift in my life. Helping people through coaching brings me pure joy, and I see the huge positive impact it has on their lives. I believe this major life experience of moving abroad has also made me a stronger and better coach. The priceless lessons learned, and the unforgettable experiences gained from living abroad are unmatched.

For those considering a move overseas, I urge you to embrace the unknown, live fully in the moment, and relish every exhilarating part of the journey. It will transform you, challenge you, and the growth will make you feel more alive than ever before.

Calling all fellow Brits who’ve taken the plunge and are now living overseas, if you need a strong, supportive coach to listen to you and help prop you up, I'm here for you.

To any Angeleno connections out there - if you find yourself going through a big move, not in the country, but in your career - contact me. This is where I support professional women to succeed in your career without sacrificing your values.
